Tasmania Australia Tourist Guide From Discount Hotels
Tasmania, with its white sandy beaches, dense bushlands and rainforests, is the only island state of Australia. Here you will see some of the tallest and rarest trees in the world in the twenty national parks on the island. Due to the fact that it is an island, this is one part of Australia where you will see unique wildlife, such as the Tasmanian devil and the eastern quoll. When you visit Hobart, you do have to explore the Maritime Museum of Tasmania where you will learn about the history of this island. Battery Point still has buildings dating back to the time this was a penal colony and at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery you can see some of the best Huron pine furniture in the world. For the most spectacular view of Tasmania, climb to the top of Mount Wellington, a towering mountain standing more than 4000 feet over Hobart. From the lookout you can see all of Hobart, Storm Bay and the Derwent Estuary. Along the coast of the Tasman Peninsula you can take in a panoramic view of the Blowhole and the Tasmans Arch. Visit the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park to see one of the best displays of wildlife on the island. This park is only one hour outside of Hobart and is quite close to Port Arthur, which should be another stop on your tour.
