Jordan Tourist Guide From Discount Hotels

Located in the Middle East, and with a population of around six million, Jordan is a mostly land-locked country that is bordered by Israel, Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. The capital city of this country is Anman, which in itself has a population of around two and a half million. The official language spoken in Jordan is Arabic, although many of the middle and upper classes have no problem in understanding English.

You will find a diverse mix of cultures and religions in Jordan, and there is much in the way of rich history to explore. There are different parts and regions that can be explored in Jordan, and the landscape can vary from rolling hills and forests to desert area. Because this is a mostly land-locked destination there is only a small strip of Red Sea coastal area here.

There are some fascinating sights and attractions to take in when you come to Jordan, and one of the most popular is Petra, which is an ancient city that is carved out of sandstone and draws many visitors. Other attractions include the largest Roman ruins in the Middle East, located in Jerash, the Dana Nature Reserve, and the famous mosaic map in Madaba.

The different regions and cities that make up Jordan make this a fascinating place, and when it comes to culture and history there is plenty to explore. You will find a range of dishes to choose from when it comes to cuisine, and one of the local specialties is a flatbread known as khobez. In the larger cities in Jordan you can enjoy a choice of both local and international cuisine, with a choice of eateries catering for an array of different tastes.
