Lebanon Tourist Guide From Discount Hotels

Lebanon may be only a small country in the Middle East but there is a lot of excitement packed into this small space. The capital of the country is Beirut, which was once nicknamed the Paris of the East. Towering mountains provide a panoramic backdrop for the city and along the seafront there is a dazzling display of shops, restaurants and theatres. There are also many sandy beaches where you can relax in the sun or dip your toes in the warm waters of the Mediterranean.

There are several world heritage sites in Lebanon that reflect the country's ancient history. Visit Phoenician tombs Roman temples, castles built by the Crusaders, and several ancient mosques. You just have to visit the town of Aanjar where there is a Umayyad site dating back to the 8th century. The interior of the country is mountainous where you can visit picturesque villages, see ancient monasteries and even a chapel carved into the rock face of a cliff.

The city of Tripoli is one that you have to include in your visit to Lebanon. This is the most Arabic city in the country with old-world charm. Here you can visit Crusader castles and see mosques that date back centuries. Visit the Islands of Palm Trees, just off the coats of Tripoli, where you will see green turtles and rare birds. When you visit Byblos, you will in the oldest city in the world where archaeological excavations have unearthed artifacts dating back to prehistoric times.

There are so many things to see and do in Lebanon that it will be hard to believe your time in the country is at an end. You will leave with many memories and plans to return to see the rest of what the country has to offer.
