Traditional villages dot the hillsides giving you a look at the culture and lifestyle of the country. Valetta, on Malta Island, has some of the best examples of the architectural style of the country. There are impressive cathedrals and many museums with historic exhibits and displays of artwork. The caves of the Blue Grotto is a must see on your visit, but the best time of day is the early morning when the waters are calm. There are several archaeological sites near Paola. Scuba diving and snorkeling is possible at any time of the year. There are fantastic beaches on all of the islands and windsurfing is a popular activity. Rowing regattas take place in April and September and in during the summer you can experience horseracing in the streets. If you want to purchase traditional crafts, you can purchase fine lace and knitted goods right from the doorways of the houses when you visit the island of Gozo. Take in the sights of the colorful fishing boats in the traditional fishing communities and have a snack at the family-run cantinas. One thing you have to make sure of is that you have plenty of memory in your camera for all the pictures you will take.
