In Lae, you just have to stroll through the exquisite botanical gardens and ion Mount Lunaman you will gaze in awe at the at the sights of the Markham Valley and the Huon Gulf. It won't take you long to realize why this location was important to the Japanese in the Second World War.

If you want to see the exotic birds of the country, visit the Wau Ecology Institute, located near Lae. You can take an exciting tour of the islands and journey up the Sepk River. In the town of Madang, you just have to visit the market to purchase a storyboard that tells the story of the islands or see the traditional pottery making methods in Bilbils or Yabobs. At Bena bena, in the Eastern Highlands, you can see and buy some of the handwoven products of the islands, as this is the major center for this industry. Witness history coming to life in the re-enactments of village warfare when you visit Asaro.

Although the beauty of the country will captivate you, there are plenty of opportunities for adventure.
