Philippines Tourist Guide From Discount Hotels

Although the country of the Philippines consists of more than 7000 islands in Southeast Asia, only 11 of these islands are inhabited. This is truly a tropical paradise with beaches, coral reefs and exciting diving opportunities. In fact, divers come from all over the world to explore the underwater treasures of this country. Manila is the capital and is a very exciting place to visit. Here you will experience a beautiful blend of the past and the present in its modern and ancient facades. In the older part of the city you can still see the remains of the Walled City and the ruins of Fort Santiago.

If you visit during the summer and find the heat a bit too much for your tastes, you can get a respite from this with a visit to Baguio. As you drive to this location along the Kennon Road, you will be treated to fantastic panoramic vistas of the countryside. When in Baguio you have to visit the Crystal Caves that was once an ancient burial site. Other tourist attractions include the Baguio Cathedral, the President's Mansion and the Bell Church.

The rich terraces ringing the mountain at Banaue is a World Heritage Site. These terraces date back more than 2000 years and were all carved by hand. Take a ferry from Batangas to Mindoro Island to experience the beauty of the Tamaraw Falls and the stunning scenery from the heights of Mount Halcon. See the hand carved life size statues in the Chapel of the Last Supper when you visit Mandaue City and the decorations of papaya and cocoanut trees craved into the façade of Miagao Church in Iloila City on Panay Island. Visit Bohol Island to see the smallest monkey in the world and the Chocolate Hills.

There are many opportunities for ecological tours when you visit the Philippines such as a canopy walk through the rainforest. Avid fishermen will want to take one of the many fishing trips and if you really want to experience village life, visit Villa Escudero where you will see carts pulled by water buffaloes. You have to experience the flea market at Zamboanga City where you can purchase many treasures to take home with you.
