Summertime can be quite busy in this area due to its popularity amongst tourists, and the population of this quaint village can double in August when the Highland Games take place on the village green. The summer residence of the Royal family, Balmoral Castle, lies not far from this village and there are many places of interest within easy reach of this destination. This includes the Loch of Aboyne and Aboyne Castle.
