Central Park Tourist Guide - New York City
Located in Manhattan in the City of New York, Central Park has become one of the world's best known parks, and is a destination that enjoys receiving around twenty five million visitors each year. The most visited park in the United States, Central Park is a hit among visitors to New York, and has been seen on movies, television shows, and sitcoms worldwide. Central Park is run by the Central Park Conservancy. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, most of Central Park is actually landscaped although it does look natural. This public, urban park enjoys a convenient location in Manhattan, and those that spend time relaxing here can enjoy some great views of the city and can combine the peace and beauty of the park with the hustle and bustle of manic Manhattan. You will find some great walking tracks here, as well as some beautiful artificial lakes. Central Park also has playgrounds for children to play in, two ice skating rinks, and even a wildlife sanctuary. You can enjoy an array of outdoor recreational pursuits in the park, or you can simply take a stroll, enjoy the beauty of the area, and relax. This is a park where you will find an array of people from all walks of life, from tourists and bird watchers, to locals that are going for a jog, roller bladers, cyclists, and more. The Central Park is also a great place to enjoy unique entertainment throughout the year, such as the open air performances that are put on each summer by the Public Theater. You can also enjoy a spectacular open air concert each summer by the New York Philharmonic, as well as a series of free performances known as Summerstage, which are put on by the City Parks Foundation.
