Garment District Tourist Guide - New York City
Located in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, the Garment District is situated between Fifth and Ninth Avenue. Since the early part of the twentieth century this district has become well known for its fashion design and manufacturing, and has become the fashion center of the city, making it a fascinating and unique place to visit whilst in New York. The Garment District is only actually one square mile in terms of area, but there is plenty to keep you busy both in and around the district. Surrounding the Garment District you will find the Javits Convention Center, Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, and the Empire State Building. Warehouses and work areas for the fashion industry are located within the neighborhood. One of the most prolific fashion destinations in the world, and certainly the fashion capital of the United States, New York is the perfect place for the Garment District to be located. You will find an array of places that manufacture and sell a great choice of fabulous fabrics in this district, from lace and silks to wool and more. You will even find a Fashion Walk of Fame when you visit the Garment District, and this is located on Seventh Avenue, and reflects the rich history and culture of the Garment District.
