Builth Wells is a town located in the county of Powys, Wales. You can easily find this town when you take the A470. The town originally grew up around Builth Castle, which was constructed in the reign of King Edward 1 in the 13th century. It was ravaged by the Black Death and the people in the surrounding countryside provided the townspeople with food by leaving it on the banks of the river. The townspeople left money in return for the food in the same location, which is why this river is called Money River today. The eight-acre Hawksdrift Falconry Centre is a very popular visitor attraction in Builth Wells where visitors of all ages can learn about the care of falcons. This location is also a mini-nature reserve where you can see many different species of wildlife native to Wales. Take time out to visit St. Mary’s Church, which was built in Norman times. Hearing the 8 bells of the church being rung is a daily occurrence. Attend a visual arts performance at the Weyside Arts Centre with its large exhibition rooms, cinemas and licensed bars. Tee off at the Builth Wells Golf Club and test your skills on this course. The towns of Builth Road, Maesmynis and Llanfaredd are less than two miles away.
