Conwy Hotels & Tourist Guides

Your guide to Conwy, Wales from Cheap Hotels Ltd.

Located on the Conwy River Estuary, Conwy is a walled town in north east Wales.  The walls are over a kilometre long, have 21 guard towers and three impressive double gateways. This market town is a very popular destination for tourists with its wealth of attractions and activities. The harbour is a very pretty sight with the yachts moored at the pier. It is the home base of the Tall Ships Fleet and it is here you will see Zebu, the last remaining authentic tall ship complete with the rigging.

Conwy Castle is a very popular attraction in the town with its authentic medieval ambiance. It was constructed in the late 13th century, but the drawbridge over the moat dates back to the 19th century. The outstanding views from the battlements are ones that will remain imprinted on your memory forever. The Plas Mawr Elizabethan House was built in the 16th century and is an architectural gem with its ornamental plasterwork. It is one of the finest reflections of how the gentry lived in Wales in the early times. The only medieval house in Conwy to have survived through the centuries is Aberconwy House. Here you can walk back in time through an audio-visual presentation that will take you through several periods of Welsh history.

Explore the town through one of several walking tours that will let you see all the main points of the town. You can also take a walking tour of the walls and learn the exciting history of Conwy. Just four miles away you can spend a quiet day exploring Rodnant Garden, which is one of the finest gardens in the world. Enjoy morning tea in the Refreshment Pavillion before you start your walk through the gardens, which can be very steep in some places.

Hotels, bed and breakfasts and self-catering units are all available within Conwy. There are numerous restaurants and cafes as well as extensive shopping experiences available. Spend as long as you like in this delightful town or make plans to return for a longer visit.
