Llangollen Hotels & Tourist Guides

Your guide to Llangollen, Wales from Cheap Hotels Ltd.

Nestled in the Dee Valley of Northeast Wales, the town of Llangollen is one where you will have plenty of activities and lots of attractions to occupy your time. International events take place here at various times during the year, the most notable of which is the Llangollen International Music Festival Eisteddfod.

The town lies right off the A6, which means it is not difficult to reach the town by car. It is said that there are 10 wonders of Llangollen. Caer Drrewyn is one of the most mysterious Celtic hill forts in the UK. Legend has it that it has connections to the Lord of the Underworld through its several caves. See the Pontcyslle Aqueduct, which is a World Heritage Site. You can walk along the length of this aqueduct, which is over 1000 feet long. Walk the medieval Town Bridge and the more modern Chain Bridge. Of course, no visit to Llangollen would be complete without a visit to the ruins of Dinas Bran Castle, which is said to be the hiding place of the Holy Grail. The views from this location are also breathtaking.

Take a short trip on the Llangollen Steam Railway or a walk in the Berwyn Mountains. Walk back through time at the Llangollen Motor Museum where you will see cars on display from the 1920s to the 1970s. Visit the ruins of Valle Cruis Abbey, which was once home to Cistercian monks. Many of the original walls are still intact. Here you will learn about the lives of these monks, who were not only religious men, but successful sheep farmers as well.

There are accommodations available to suit all tastes and budgets. Drop into the pub for a cool drink and meet some of the local people and make some new friends. Dine at the tables of the restaurants on traditional food or stick to food that you are used to eating. Everything about Llangollen will please you so much you will make plans to return.
