Zimbabwe Tourist Guide From Discount Hotels

Zimbabwe shares Victoria Falls with neighboring Zambia, but there are plenty of attractions and activities to keep you fully occupied when you visit this country. Forested mountains provide many walking opportunities, as well as hiking and trekking. There are many national parks and game reserves where you can really get to see the wildlife of the country.

In Harare, the capital city of the country, there are many tourist attractions. You will really be amazed at the exotic plants and the landscaped gardens of the Ewanrigg Botanical Gardens. Tourists of all ages will eagerly anticipate a visit to the Lion and Cheetah Park and birdwatchers will certainly want to visit the Lavron Bird Gardens. The climate is fantastic and is one of the reasons this city has the nickname of "Sunshine City".

The second largest city in the country is Bulawayo. Here you can visit museums and enjoy shopping. A short distance outside the city, you can see the ancient Khami ruins. To the south you can see the exotic formations of granite boulders in the Rhodes Matopos National Park. There is a well-stocked game park in this area as well as caves where you can see drawings etched into the rock.

The mountain ranges are the main tourist destinations of Zimbabwe where the air is crisp and cool. The striking scenery provides many opportunities for taking pictures. Here you can enjoy fishing, mountain climbing, and many different kinds of sports. You do have to visit the Great Zimbabwe National Monument, which is second only to the Pyramids in archaeological importance. Here you can see the ruins of a city-state that flourished in the 13th century.

About 11% of Zimbabwe is designated as national parks. Here you can experience the natural wonders of the country and see the wildlife in its natural setting. You will return home with many stories to tell of the sights you have seen.
